Crazy Days
The district's sidewalk sale day, when every shop puts its own deals out front.
Usually the Saturday of the tax-free weekend in early August. The last one was 8 August 2026. The next one is not set yet.
Crazy Days is the day downtown McAlester moves the merchandise outside. Shops set up racks and tables along the sidewalks and run their own markdowns, and the district’s places open together for it.
It lands on Oklahoma’s back-to-school sales tax holiday, when the state waives sales tax on clothing and shoes priced under $100. The tax holiday itself runs Friday to Sunday and applies wherever you shop in the state, but Crazy Days is the Saturday.
Every place sets its own hours and its own deals.
