Common Roots

A gift shop in a restored historic building on Choctaw Avenue, open since 2014. Gifts, clothing, home things and a penny-topped soda bar with 35 flavours of glass-bottled soda.

Common Roots Mercantile opened in October 2014 and started life as a T-shirt company run by a husband and wife. It has grown into a general gift shop: bath and body, novelty mugs, home decor, gourmet candy, clothing and chocolate, in a beautifully restored historic building downtown.

The soda bar at the back is the thing people remember. Thirty-five flavours of ice-cold glass-bottled soda and root beer, served at a penny-topped counter.
