The Grillmarks Festival Series is an outdoor grilling competition that comes to downtown twice a year. In the spring, teams compete at Chucks & Clucks. In November the smokers come out for Ribtoberfest and it is ribs all day.
It has run since 2017 and is put on by McAlester Makers, the non-profit behind a good number of the town’s events. Competitors and visitors come from across Oklahoma and the states around it.
The spring festival lands on the same day as the Armed Forces Day Parade, so downtown is busy from the morning onwards. This November it shares a day with Dancing Rabbit.
